Absolute synthnewbie here and the rev 2 is my first but beloved hardware. I made my first patches and a little piece with it, so all sounds and fx come from the Rev 2.

Not Youtube, but I made a track using nothing but the REV2 (including drums)

https://soundcloud.com/pkmood/needs-bass

All sounds are direct from rev with only minimal post processing like a delay on the master track and some reverb.

Nice, Gerry.  I really like both the sounds and the music.  Some very effective chord progressions, even dramatic.  I think the Rev2 and Blofeld make an excellent combination.

Thanks Sacred, indeed I am starting to "grok" the Blofeld much better. The Rev2 is just marvelous, so much to learn and discover, no end.

Nice dude. Good sounds. Those two synths definitely compliment each other. I almost considered a blokey instead of my Rev2.

Very nice demonstration of Rev2 sound capabilities by Wisdom Water. Wonderful Blade Runner style patch around 3:41.

That was an excellent video review of the Rev2, but Batt had quite a few criticisms of the instrument.  I'm tempted to say those criticisms are unfair, in light of the origin and intent behind the instrument.

The Prophet '08 was not an idea unto itself.  It was Dave's attempt to extract from the massive Poly Evolver Keyboard only the analog portion.  That extraction, together with the goal of creating a reasonably priced instrument, means that simplicity was at the core of the Prophet '08 idea.  It wasn't supposed to be the instrument that did it all.

In the Rev2, DSI took a fairly simple synthesizer and made it a bit more sophisticated.  There's a bit of a risk in this - in taking the uncomplicated and making it a little more complicated - in that people will then have expectations that don't match the original idea behind the instrument.  To a substantial degree, the simplicity theme still lingers in the Rev2, but it has been somewhat confused by its improvements.

The Prophet Rev2 is not supposed to have everything but the kitchen sink.  The Prophet 12 is supposed to and it does, with the exception of the missing sequencer.  But I don't think the Rev2 should be faulted for not being something it wasn't meant to be.

The missing sequencer on the Prophet 12 is a big issue holding me back, I find it indispensable on my Evolvers.
