Tetra polychain and Audio between tetra and P08
« on: May 11, 2017, 08:55:27 PM »
Hi All,
I'm in the process to buy a Tetra to expand my P08 to 12 voices...But...I do need to plug the outputs of the Tetra to my mixer, right? there is no way that the extended voices will come though the outputs of the P08? In yes, I need 4 inputs in my mixer, two for the P08 and two for the Tetra? Any difference in volume the ones who do that have experienced?
Just to confirm...
Sincerely

That's correct, polychain only handles the order in which notes are played, and you need to handle the audio separately with a mixer.

There might be slight level differences, which you can adjust with the mixer.

As mentioned above, you can match levels in your mixer. I run two Tetras together and mix them in a Mackie Mix 5. Works and sounds great.

The only DSI synthesizer that does this is the Poly Evolver Rack.  When you want to increase the voice count of a Poly Evolver Keyboard, you patch both its MIDI cable and audio cables into the Rack, and the two combined instruments then occupy only one stereo channel.  Brilliant, extremely practical, and not to be seen again.  The Evolvers have a number of exceptional features that have not been repeated in the DSI line.
